Vrachos Organic Farm is an authentic, rural Greek farm, set amongst 10 sprawling acres of vineyards and olive groves. There is an alternating collection of farm animal and seasonal vegetables. Nothing beats fresh food. You can always taste the difference between something picked that morning and something that has been sitting on the supermarket shelf for 3 weeks. At the Sunkrock, our food comes from our farm and is picked fresh everyday. Madalena makes feta cheese from the goats milk, the lettuce is made into Greek salad as a starter for the dinners. Best part? All this is included in the price of your hostel stay. What a deal.
The Sunrock Backpackers Hostel on Corfu is run by a family. A very eccentric, loving, hospitable Greek family to be precise. It started with Spyros opening the hostel in 1986 – making it one of the oldest hotels on Corfu. Unlike many of the newer places where the beach is so far it’s inaccessible, the Sunrock had first choice and is right by one of the best beaches on the island, Pelekas Beach. And we aren’t a stale 5-star resort. You will be immediately welcomed into the family and fall into the whirlwind of Greek life. The farm has been in the family for generations and started feeding the hostel about a decade ago by producing milk, meat, vegetables, wine and honey. Madalena cooks a different dish every night. Sometimes is purely Greek, sometimes its a fusion with distinctly Greek properties.
